Wśród finalistów znalazły się modele, które już są dostępne w Europie lub pojawią się na rynku w najbliższym czasie. Zwycięzca zostanie ogłoszony 9 stycznia podczas salonu samochodowego w Brukseli. Do finału zakwalifikowały się następujące modele: Citroën C5 Aircross, Fiat Grande Panda, Mercedes-Benz CLA, Škoda Elroq, Dacia Bigster, Kia EV4 oraz Renault 4. Wybrano je spośród 36 kandydatów reprezentujących producentów z Europy, Azji i Ameryki. Jury konkursu tworzy 60 dziennikarzy motoryzacyjnych z 23 krajów europejskich. Podczas finałowych jazd testowych w Barcelonie każdy juror będzie musiał rozdzielić 25 punktów pomiędzy co najmniej pięć modeli z finałowej siódemki, przy czym maksymalnie jeden samochód może otrzymać 10 punktów.
